This issue seems to be an ongoing problem that never really gets solved, the best we can do seems to be to manage it. Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act is legislation that has been introduced in the house of representatives and would authorize $755 million in grants to expand parking for our truck drivers. Statistics show that 70% of American freight is transported on trucks yet there is only 1 parking spot for every 11 trucks according to Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association. This piece of legislation is in addition to earlier legislation working its way through Congress that earmarks 800 million through fiscal year 2026 for parking projects. Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, has also chimed in also, “I completely agree with the importance of this issue, when you talk with truck drivers it’s one of the first things that they raise.” It appears everyone is on board so hopefully drivers will soon see some more parking options.
I had a load shift on me and the retail consignee would not accept delivery. I was in a real jam. The Transload team at Comet Warehouse was able to quickly resolve my problem. The shifted pallets were re-stacked and re-wrapped in short order, and I was able to execute a perfect delivery the next day.
